Imagine at your first doctors appointment being told your baby had fluid around their heart? After being advised to wait until the baby had grown to conduct a full anatomy screening, today’s guest was faced with devastating news. Taysha Turman found out at 16 weeks that her baby was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and a diaphragmatic hernia. The doctors advised her to terminate her pregnancy, but she kept her faith in God and trusted God throughout her pregnancy and birth. Her baby boy had a traumatic birth receiving chest compressions and died 3 months later due to his heart condition. At 28 weeks pregnant she gave birth to her stillborn son Gabriel who was diagnosed with Trisomy 13 a rare genetic defect that was tested while in the womb. When the doctors pushed for her to abort her son she held onto hope that God would perform a miracle. Tarinna had Gabriel 3 days after she was married and in this episode talks about the incredible aching pain of grieving her baby boy and how therapy helped her on her journey. In today’s episode we have Qiana Wright who shares her miscarriage at 8 weeks, premature birth at 28 weeks, and infant loss story at 9 months due to daycare abuse. We also talk about her inspiration for starting her foundation Savannah Smiles, and trying again for a family after having her tubes tied. Qiana shares in this episode how her first pregnancy ended in a premature birth of son Julius. He spent a month in the NICU and came home on a breathing monitor. Later she conceived and ended up miscarrying at 8 weeks. Qiana and her husband were determined to try again, and became pregnant with daughter Savannah. After not having a known cause for her previous preterm birth and miscarriage, a cerclage was placed at 21 weeks due to her cervix shortening. Qiana gave birth to her beautiful healthy baby girl Savannah on March 1, 2015. She knew her family was complete and opted to get her tubes tied in April 2015. On December 4, 2015, Savannah died at 9 months due to child abuse while at daycare. Katina loss her son in March 2008, and she felt God moving her into her purpose so she created the Mourning Moms blog and community to help other grieving mothers like herself. Her goal through Mourning Moms is to create a national movement dedicated to women of child loss. From pregnancy loss, still birth, and infant/child loss the goal is to keep you encouraged and in hope of what God said you would naturally have. Katina shares in this interview how she is called to this work and how it is okay for us to mourn.

This book chronicles 7 women’s stories of heartbreak, healing, and hope as well as their testimonies of loss, both during and shortly after pregnancy. Celebrate their bravery as they seek to help remove the stigma of pregnancy and infant loss, and show other women how they can have victory in spite of these losses. During this interview with LaTanya and one of the book contributors Ms. Aviyah Forrest we find that we share loss and having a Special Needs child in common. They also founded the Angel Baby Network out of the desire to help other parents who had surged pregnancy or infant loss.
