After two miscarriages today’s guest experienced preterm labor at 26 weeks. Carrita Flie would not have chosen this journey to motherhood. After her miscarriages, one in the first trimester and one in the second, she was labeled high risk and had to see a specialist weekly when she became pregnant with her rainbow baby. At 21 weeks she was told her cervix was shortened and received a cerclage. Even though Carrita had a cerclage she experienced preterm labor at 26 weeks and her son spent 117 days in the NICU. In this episode she takes us back to how she healed from her miscarriages, going into labor at 26 weeks, and raising a micropreemie.
Carrita Flie’s Bio
I have experienced two miscarriages. 1 first trimester and 1 second trimester. The third time that I conceived I was labeled high risk and saw a specialist weekly. At 21 weeks I was told that my cervix had severely shortened and I needed to receive a cervical cerclage. Even with the cerclage, I experienced preterm labor at 26 weeks. I spent 117 days In the NICU with my son. This is not the journey into motherhood that I would have chosen, but I am so grateful for it! I’m from Chicago, IL. I am graduate of Washington University School of Law. I am 27 years old and have experienced two miscarriages. I am also the mom of Micropreemie who was born at 26 weeks.
